Save wild life and save yourself, think about the polar bear, what will it do when there isn't any ice, will you be there to bare the sight? - Anonymous.

Our wildlife in Canada is starting to become severely endangered which happens to include Polar Bears that reside in the glaciers towards Upper Canada. These polar bears deserve a chance at life like humans because they are nature's creatures as well. Even if you look back 30 years ago, you will notice that these beautiful creatures have undergone such a significant change in their population in a matter of 3 decades because of the undergoing cause of global warming that is severely starting to affect the Arctic Polar Caps. In order for everyone to know about this issue, there is a day that recognizes Polar Bears plight. It is called the International Polar Bear Day and is celebrated on February, 27th 2013. This international day was created to raise awareness about the lower numbers of Polar Bears and to let people know that we need to make big decisions in order to get big changes that will help the environment, the polar bears and the world.

According to the WWF ( World Wildlife Fund), this magnificent creature of the Far North, is the world's largest terrestrial carnivore but its status is currently vulnerable because of climate change which is impacting polar bear habitats and reducing the polar bear population. There is currently about 20-25,000 polar bears worldwide. With the Arctic Polar Ice-Caps melting extremely fast, the polar bears are being pushed South, where they are getting used to the sea-ice climate of the Western Hudson Bay. Polar Bears need our help and they need our help now because polar bears are now being threatened with extinction which could affect life on Earth severely. Polar Bears are vital to the health of our ecosystem and their pending extinction signals catastrophic impacts on all of life's systems. The polar bears deserve the respect and love that all creatures are given on this lovely planet and our vital to our own survival.

The International Polar Bear Day is a time to give and nourish the mind of all or any negative thoughts towards these terrestrial carnivores that inhabit our land up North. There are things you can do to help save the polar bears such as: Reducing the things you buy, buy what you need; walk, take the bus, car pool and ride your bike when you can; recycle your stuff. That will reduce the greenhouse gasses that are causing climate change and melting the ice caps. You can also raise awareness about this cause by letting others know that they need to support it because life on Earth depends on these creatures such as sharks and polar bears. Posting this article on your face book wall would definitely help as well as sending this as a link or talking with your green club/team teacher to assist you in this matter that Polar Bears need our assistance to rise up and above by holding their heads high in order to surpass the endangered species rate.

In conclusion, we hope you have a fun and snowy International Polar Bear Day to celebrate the polar bears and life on earth. It's also an important day to support the ongoing work of ecologists around the world who are working hard to restore the small numbers of these great species.

Have a happy and merry International Polar Bear Day!
