Flora told Tribunesport: “I felt terribly bad when the result was announced, I didn’t lose this fight, everybody here saw it. How can I lose to this girl this way? This is not how to encourage somebody to win.
“I do go on road work as early as 5.00 a.m. alone from Umuahia to the stadium for training, without minding the risk of going out at such an ungodly hour as a woman because I knew what I was aiming at. It is unfortunate If I have to lose the gold medal this way,” she said.
The fair skinned boxer, also hinted that she had on two occasions got invitation from the United States of America (USA) to further her boxing career.
“I was invited twice by Pink Gloves Boxing Club of USA but I could not honour the invitation. I didn’t get the financial assistance to make the trip. The letter was signed by Mr Garret Garrels and it even got to the former sports minister. They only want me to come over because everything has been taken care of. According to the letter, aisde from the allowance for my upkeep, they will accommodate me, feed me and allocate a car to take me out at leisure.
“With what I have witnessed here, I may decide to box for another country. I represented Nigeria at the world kick-boxing championship in Germany, last year and I won a bronze medal in 60kg K1. I will not allow this episode to abort my dream, I have a mission to accomplish in boxing,” said Flora who represented Team FCT at the last National Sports Festival, Rivers 2011.
