The Ramnagar forest divison here on Thursday could not proceed in a tiger poaching case reported from Fathepur range forest division on January 2009, despite presence poacher Narayan Chand as the lawyers of the local court could not resume their routine works due to a condolence meeting.

However, the court directed the poacher to appear on September 29.

It may be recalled that earlier on September 3, in its judgment the local court did not grant the forest officials custody of the poacher making it clear that since a charge sheet has already been filed by the said forest department against Narayan Chand and his associates so there is no provision to grant custody after filing the charge sheet.

Rather then court maintained that if the forest officials wish to interrogate the poacher they might approach the local court in Alwar in Rajasthan where Naryan Chand is presently jailed.

When contacted the lawyer of the forest department Sandeep Kashmira, informed that as the next hearing is on September 29, we would be able to take up the matter only then.

Today for demise of a lawyer we had to observe a condolence meet, he informed.
