CHENNAI: As part of its corporate social responsibility, The Hindu is embarking on a campaign “to plant one tree for every copy of newspaper we print” in Tamil Nadu over the next six months to one year.

‘ The Hindu Green Reader Initiative' is an attempt to combat climate change and global warming and nourish the depleting ecosystem. The initiative will get under way on Saturday, marking the World Environment Day.

Member of Parliament Kanimozhi and Minister for Information Technology Poongothai Aladi Aruna would be participating in the launch function to be held on the premises of The Hindu office on Anna Salai.

BSNL (Tamil Nadu Circle) and Marg Builders are supporting the initiative.
