Effects of climate change on society and the environment

Based on new analysis, we are rapidly approaching major climate change and the effects on society and the environment could be quite severe. Geographers predict that within the next eighty years, climate zones could shift and some could completely vanish; which means current world climate zones could change, dictating where crops will be grown. Polar Regions should be the first to go while tropical regions get even hotter, forcing animals to migrate north.

Climate changes like these could very well lead to the spread of diseases such as dungy fever and malaria into more northern regions. Tropical storms and hurricanes will not only increase but may also become more intense. If the changes manifest too quickly, it is feared that animal and plant species may not be able to adapt fast enough and could become extinct.

According to Science Daily, a new study predicts that, "by the year 2100, many of today's familiar climates will be replaced by climates unknown in today's world The new global climate models for the next century forecast the complete disappearance of several existing climates currently found in tropical highlands and regions near the poles; while large swaths of the tropics and subtropics may develop new climates unlike anything seen today."

Despite Climate Gate, evidence for the need of aggressive climate protection is overwhelming. It is urgent that we minimize the risks of far-reaching consequences for the whole world. If worldwide temperatures increase by more than 4 degrees Celsius, scientists see a marked increase in the likelihood of a collapse of the current flow of Atlantic circulation.

There are hundreds of reputable scientists who have no political agenda and they all agree that such an increase would melt Greenland's ice sheet. Super storms could quickly devastate entire regions while drought destroys others.

Something is definitely going on with our climate worldwide. Disasters that happen in far away regions can have a devastating effect on other regions such as mass migration, financial aid and the spread of disease. The planet itself has been showing signs of change.

In 2004, a mega tsunami created by a major earthquake killed thousands in Sumatra and in 2008, thousands more died in China by another severe earthquake. Egypt was hit in 2009 with a major earthquake and Haiti was devastated in 2010 by yet another massive earthquake. In all of these tragedies the people had no warning. It was business as usual but in a brief moment, death and devastation lay all around.

Not long ago, scientists discovered ice melting in west Antarctica. This is very disturbing because temperatures in this region have remained rather constant and actually even lower at times. Melting occurs when temperatures increase and since the temperatures have remained normal, the ice shouldn't be melting. Nevertheless, satellite data shows melting around west Antarctica.

Within just the last few months, new reports from around the world have been coming in and most all agree that our climate situation is much worse than previously thought. At this point, it doesn't matter what is causing it, but rather, what can be done about it.

Our world is getting more and more unstable every year. There is war and threat of war in nearly every part of the planet. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and intense. Several regions are experiencing the worse famine and drought they've ever experienced, spawning diseases for which there is no cure.

In the universe, the planets are aligning with the Milky Way, which should be completed by December 21, 2012. This type of alignment only happens every 26,000 years or so and the effect it could have on our planet is unknown. However, according to some scientists, the closer we get to 2012 the more unstable our climate could become.

Other planets are experiencing global warming as well as our own which leads some researchers to believe there may be a connection between Earth's climate changes and the planetary alignment. No one knows anything for sure at this point because there is simply not enough data.

"Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you... ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows... there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth." (Matt.14, Mark 13, Luke 21)

The world could be facing some major climate changes, among other things, which could seriously affect our environment and society. Times are getting hard and if we are living in the End Times it will get even worse. Jesus warned us not to be deceived and the way to prepare against deception is to be filled with the Word of God. Climate change could be only one of the many problems our world is facing.
