India and United Kingdom have decided to enhance cooperation in dealing with issues related to sustainable development. This was indicated at a meeting between the Minister for Environment and Forests Thiru A Raja and UK Minister of State for Environment Elliot Morley on Thursday.Emission of green house gases by India was very low, both in terms of per capita as well as aggregate emissions, amounting to about three per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, Raja said.India's legislation for wildlife conservation was being strengthened to incorporate CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) provisions, Raja said. The Wildlife Crime Cell established at the national level was being reinforced for developing a dynamic database with networking, he said.

Government was also considering the constitution of a multi-disciplinary Bureau for Control of Crimes related to Wildlife on the lines of Nacrotics Control Bureau, he added.Raja said India had initiated a number of steps for achieving the national goal of 33 per cent forest and tree cover by the year 2012.Earlier, addressing a ministerial session on "Global Sustainability: Challenges for Developed and Developing Countries" in New Delhi, Morley said during this year's G8, UK would focus on multifaceted and complex areas of climate change and Africa.
