The Indian Military Academy has teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund to begin a series of activities aimed at creating awareness for India's endangered tigers.

Beginning with a signature campaign on a banner in which the entire IMA fraternity took part. Sunday morning saw the Roar of the Tiger run begin from the Nizam Pavillion. Even as Rashmi Sujlana, wife of the Commandant, released doves and balloons to mark the occasion, runners of both sexes in different categories from 10 to 50 years set off on 2.4 to 4.5 km run at 6.15 am. Cadets took part in a 10 km run on the occasion.

Aimed at creating awareness about the evils that imperil the most impressive of big cats, unique to the sub-continent such as poaching, the movement is also an attempt to raise a commitment to the cause of conservation.

A notion embraced wholeheartedly by the Indian Military Academy. Lt Gen RS Sujlana, Commandant, released a CD — Illegal Wildlife Trade in India — along with Director (Operations) Wing Cdr (Retd) MC Pandey of the WWF (India). The first two GC's — P Nehra and Rahul — in the 10 km run were also presented with Firefox bicycles. Other prizes included I-pods, rucksacks, sleeping bags and hampers. All participants got a cap, T-shirt, WWF band, key chains, stickers and badges. About 2,000 participants embraced the occasion and the event was sponsored by Ajay Polymers.

Another highlight of the show was a two-tier mosaic of a WWF photo exhibition held at Hague in Netherlands.
