Leopard carcass found

KALPETTA: The carcass of a four-year-old male leopard was found in a private plantation at Vakeri, near Sulthan Bathery, on Saturday evening. K.K. Sunilkumar, Divisional Forest Officer, South Wayanad, said no indications of anthrax or poaching were found. Arun Zachariah, Assistant Forest Veterinary Officer, had conducted an autopsy. For further analysis, samples would be sent to the Regional Chemical Examination Laboratory, Kozhikode. It is suspected that the leopard reached the plantation from the nearby Cherthalayam Forest Range.
