Earth Hour observed in Nagaland

KOHIMA, March 29 – As a symbolic gesture to show solidarity with global campaign for Vote Earth, Nagaland Government officially took part in observing Earth Hour by switching off all electricity lights for an hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday night. At Raj Bhawan, Nagaland Governor, K Sankaranarayanan along with officers and staff observed Earth Hour 2009 by switching off all lights. Most of the homes in different parts were dark because of the Earth Hour observation.

The Governor, during the recently concluded Assembly session, had appealed to the people of Nagaland to join the rest of the world in Vote Earth Campaign as a gesture to address the global phenomenon of climate change. The State Government had issued an office memorandum asking all employees and public to extend their cooperation by observing Earth Hour.
