Six poachers arrested

KOTDWAR (Garhwal): Six suspected poachers have been arrested from Lal Dhang range in Garhwal and a gun and some cartridges were recovered from them, officials said.

Based on information regarding poaching activities in the Laldhang range forest, a search operation was jointly conducted by Rajaji park and Lansidown forest division in the area yesterday, DFO Lansdown Forest Division Nishant Varma said.

A team led by Ranger Rajaji National Park Mahendra Singh and Ranger Laldhang Range R S Arya noticed some poachers aiming at a Sambhar dear at Sigaddi compartment No 11 of the forest, following which six persons were arrested, he said.

The team arrested Rajendra Singh, Sonu, Mangat Singh, Lalit, Rajendra and Mukesh from the spot, Varma said, adding that they have been booked under the Wildlife Act and sent to Pauri Jail.
