KALPETTA: Forest Department personnel arrested a man on charges of poaching a Sambar deer in the Makkiad forests under the North Wayanad Forest Division on Monday. Andavan, 47, of Chalil at Makkiad used cables to trap the animal, Mananthavadi Range Officer Ajith K. Raman said. Deer skin and six kg of flesh were recovered from his house, Mr. Raman added. Andavan is in judicial custody.
