Illegal sand mining rampant in Kushalnagar

| Hebbale and Thorenoor residents have alleged that sand mining is going on along Kaveri river, here using motors. They said that the miners are using motors to extract sand from the river and this illegal activity must be stopped immediately and urged the Department of Geological Survey and Mining to take note of the situation at the earliest.
ZP had earlier resolved that no mining activities should be allowed in the river using mechanised boats etc but it is said that a TP member is behind the mining operation and the Department is not taking action against him at all. The residents have warned of an intense protest if the mining operations are not stopped at the earliest.
