With Orissa facing adverse impact of climate change as its long coastline is already feeling its effect and environmentalists fearing that the situation will aggravate in near future, the Orissa Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), the State's nodal body for popularising use of renewable energy resources, has come forward to generate awareness on the move for climate change mitigation.
In collaboration with the Institute of Climate Change and Ecology (ICCE) and the Schumacher Centre for Development, the OREDA will organise a one-day seminar on "Renewable Energy in Climate Change Mitigation" here on October 22.
Invitees from TERI, WINROCK, Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and a number of other national and international institutions will be the guest speakers at the seminar. Invitees from Sweden, France, Britain, Germany and Italy will be among the speakers from abroad.
People from State nodal agencies for renewable energy, eminent scientists, educationists, Government officials, representatives of voluntary organisations and students will also participate in the seminar. The OREDA and the ICCE are working together for enabling Orissa to cope with the climate change.
The ICCE is a New Delhi-based non-profit international institution working autonomously for creating opportunities for climate change mitigation initiatives.
