India to participate in Abu Dhabi environment show

ABU DHABI: India will be among over 25 countries taking part in an environment exhibition to be held in this capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January next year.

The exhibition, Environment 2009, will be held Jan 19-21, 2009.

"Worldwide exhibitor interest in our show mirrors a drive towards enhancing ecological awareness, environmental preservation and longer-term sustainability in the region, and opens up a number of business opportunities for companies to offer their products, services and technologies," said Frederic Theux, president of Reed Exhibitions Middle East, organisers of the exhibition.

"Environment 2009 provides the most appropriate business platform for the environmental sector in this region," the state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted him as saying.

Apart from India and hosts UAE, among the other participants are Australia, Bahrain, China, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Britain and the US. It will be the fifth edition of the exhibition.

According to report, Environment 2009 will cover the following sectors - water, waste, air pollution treatment, recycling, protection and preservation of nature and cultural resources, sustainable development and services such as risk prevention and management, audit, consultancy, training and education.

Visitors to the meet will include decision makers from the federal and local governments from around the region, municipalities, public sector organizations, manufacturing industries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and educational and research institutions.

Over 330 exhibitors from 28 countries had taken part in the last exhibition held in January 2007.
