New Delhi, July 8: Days after the Government’s first-ever translocation programme was launched to introduce the big cats at Sariska, poachers are back at it again—this time at the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve in UP.

A recent haul of tiger bones from Gurgaon and a tiger cub making a kill after being separated from its mother on the fringes of Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve has put the authorities on high alert. According to sources, the tiger skeleton that was seized originated from the Jim Corbett Reserve, as prime suspect Bhima Bawaria operated in the area.

“Dariya, a poacher who was arrested in April has said that Bawariya was active in the Amangarh- Saneh area of UP, which shares a boundary with Corbett,” a forest official said.

Meanwhile, Corbett authorities said a tiger cub, which was separated from its mother, could possibly be a victim of poaching. “The cub killed two goats in a fringe village last Friday. It is still moving around the fringe areas and we fear that it has been separated from its mother. We are manning the area, as the cub could be an easy victim to poaching. During the monsoon poachers strike most,” said Park Director Rajiv Bhartari. Sariska too is on high alert.
