Wildlife activist held on charge of poaching

Bhubaneswar: Barely four months after bagging an award for initiatives to protect migratory birds, a wildlife activist was arrested on the charge of poaching birds from Orissa’s Chilika lake.

Dibakar Behera, president of Sri Sri Mahavir Pakshi Suraksha Samiti, an organisation working for the cause of protection of birds, was arrested on the charge of violating Wildlife Protection Act at Tangi near Chilika lake, forest officials said. -PTI
