PATNA: Climatic changes observed due to rapid pace of urbanisation in the past few decades came up for detailed discussion when geographers from across the country congregated to take part in the IXth annual Conference of Geographers here on Sunday. The two-day conference is being hosted by Nalanda Open University. About 400 delegates are taking part in the event. Noted geographer R B Singh, Delhi School of Economics, in his keynote address, discussed the issue of climatic change due to urbanisation in detail. While noted geographer Parmeshwar Dayal threw light on the nature of urbanisation, vice chancellor of Nalanda Open University V S Dubey dwelt on the historic aspect of urbanisation. Earlier, state HRD minister Brishen Patel inaugurated the conference. Underlining the importance of such conferences, Patel said such events can help in finding ways for solving the problem of urbanisation in a state like Bihar. He also highlighted the co-relation between global warming and urbanisation and industrialisation.
