ERODE: Residents of Pallipalayam Agraharam say that they have been badly affected by the unpleasant smell of garbage in their area and claim that they are developing respiratory problems as a result of air pollution caused by burning garbage.
In many places in Pallipalayam Agraharam panchayat, large quantities of garbage remain piled up and are cleared only once in ten or 15 days. Consequent to heaps of garbage accumulating on the road margins, the residents are affected by fly menace and are also inhaling foul air round the clock.
The villagers appealed to the Collector, Namakkal district, to visit the area and save the 5,000-odd villagers from the air pollution from the burning garbage. A separate place could be set apart for disposal of garbage.
