Bhopal, June 4: On May 23, 2007 ,Indian wild life institution issued preliminary data of tigers census made in four states , MP, Rajasthan , Maharashtra and Chhatisgarh respectively. These data are related to 28 tiger reserves which tells 50 per cent less population, however final data would likely to be received up to the end of the year 2007.

The world's half population of tigers is in India. Under the project tiger the government of India.

The number of tigers in national parks and sanctuaries of MP is about 276 whereas in the census of year 2002 there were 712 tigers in the whole forest areas of MP but the census of out side of national park and sanctuaries is yet to come. In this census the cubs and naxalite area is not included. After receiving the data from all the forest area it could be said clearly that whether there is fall or increase in their numbers.

It is noticeable that some of the wild life experts said these data bogus but there is no doubt the due to the increasing population , human being is disturbing the tiger reserve, sanctuaries, buffer areas and other forest areas where tigers habitats are available. In the protected areas there is clash between human being and wild life protection. As there is no sufficient prey for tigers so the wild life eat cattle, it makes adverse effect. Even today there are villages in protected areas where living tribal are found indulge in poaching. When these villages would rehabilitate out of the protected areas it would help in the habitat of wild life whereas the tigers would have sufficient prey to feed themselves.

It is clear that in the state forests no poacher or hunter comes from China and neither Sansarchand like wild life smugglers hunt themselves. In fact, the big poachers gang luring the local tribal do this illegal work. If the local tribal do not cooperate these poachers then it can be checked at some extent. Local tribal should not cooperate these smugglers. For this, it is necessary to educate and connect them in main stream of development. The forest department along with all the government departments should work with mission sprit so that the all over development of the tribal could be made. Pardi caste people are notorious for killing of wild life, needs all over development so they may kept away from poaching. It would be impossible to check poaching without the all over development of local tribal.

It is noticeable that after issuing the data of census of tigers by Indian wild life Institution , there was hue and cry then Union cabinet sanctioned to form wild life criminal control bureau. Its headquarters would be in New Delhi comprising five divisional and three sub-divisional offices. The main aim of the bureau is to check wild life poaching and smuggling.

It is also noticeable that some days back Rajasthan High Court on decreasing number of tigers in Ranthambhour tiger reserve giving decision has directed to Rajasthan government to close the industrial units adjoining the sanctuaries, the guards of more than 45 years of age should be removed from sanctuaries and should be deployed in offices. They should be given advanced arms and eqipment, the main gates of adjoining hotels and resorts which open towards parks should be closed. The special courts should be formed under the wild life protection act where hearing against the poachers should be instantly, the villagers in the national sanctuaries should be rehabilitated before their shifting. These directives may be prove effective for the wild life protection in MP.

This reality can not be denied that there is biological pressure on the forests of the state , as a result at around 40 per cent forests have come under damaged forests. When these forests are continuously decreasing, it is sure that it is affecting adversely on the numbers of wild life. Even in the adverse situations the forest department has been doing continuous efforts to protect wild life. But without the firm political and administrative will power it would be difficult to save tigers. Recently, the government of MP, with a view to encourage wild life safety and management, has started state level awards which is a commendable step.
