The United Kingdom will work with India to provide a detailed assessment of potential impacts of climate change in India and to undertake a pilot regional project to identify and develop adaptation strategies, the visiting British Environment Minister David Miliband announced today.

The project will look to improve climate change scenarios for India up to 2050. It will also assess the impact of climate change on water resources, agriculture and forestry, and explore linkages between the sectors.

Announcing the launch of the phase II of the research project at an inaugural workshop here, Mr Miliband said: “The UK has so far committed over £40 million to help developing countries understand how climate change will affect them.”
