CHENNAI : Students of Madras School of Social Work took out a bicycle rally from the Labour statue to the Gandhi statue on the Kamaraj Salai here on Thursday.

Commissioner of Police Letika Saran flagged off the rally in the presence of principal Fatima Vasanth.

With ever increasing vehicles plying on the roads, the students created awareness of the need for lessening air pollution and thus suggested alternative means of transport. Riding bicycles would not only keep one healthy but also pave way for inhaling clean air.

The students, as part of their project, had chosen the environment theme and chosen air pollution and motor vehicular pollution as the area of study.

At the end of the rally, the students staged a street play, which emphasised the causes of vehicular pollution and its effects on health.
