Delhi Police on Sunday lodged a complaint against former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, an accused in a black buck poaching case, for allegedly threatening a co-accused in the case.

Madan Singh, a co-accused in the poaching case, filed a complaint at the Vasant Vihar Police Station in south-west Delhi claiming that the former cricketer had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not change his testimony given to the police.

Singh alleged that Pataudi called him to his Vasant Kunj residence in south-west Delhi on August 20 and in the presence of his lawyer, asked him to change the statement given to the police and own up to the crime of killing the animal.

Singh had said that when he refused to comply, Pataudi allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. NGO People For Animals (PFA), which is demanding registration of a case against Pataudi in this connection, also said it has lodged a complaint backing Singh in the office of the SP.

The case will come up for hearing before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday. Madan Singh is a native of Jhajjar. According to police sources, Madan Singh and Pataudi both, would be called and questioned about the whole matter.

"We would take any decision only after asking both the parties that what had actually happened as the complaint was filed through in an NGO. We would ask Madan what was he asked by Pataudi on August 20," said a senior police officer.

It was the night of June 4, 2005, when the police stopped a speeding Maruti Gypsy and a Honda Accord in Jhajjar, Haryana in which former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi was sitting. While, inside the Maruti Gypsy, the carcasses of a blackbuck and two black-naped hares were kept. The police had also recovered some guns, a searchlight and other hunting equipment.
