DHUBRI, July 15 – Chilarai Krishi Bikash Samity (CKBS), a frontline NGO of the district has urged the district administration to impose a ban on the use of polythene bags and has also requested the people to use either jute or paper bags. The NGO stated that these bags, or majority of them are thrown in the dustbin and ultimately find their way to the earth. But soil cannot dissolve them even after 100 years. Nor burning of polythene is advisable for fear of air pollution. So the only way out is not to use them at all at the consumer level and not to produce them at all at the producer level.
