NOIDA: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has proposed a graded action plan to maintain a check on the air pollution levels in the city.

In a meeting of stakeholders organised on air pollution, hosted by UPPCB and ministry of environment of Uttar Pradesh, under the aegis of Noida Authority on Tuesday, the UPPCB said the initiative was being taken on the direction of the Supreme Court after the heavy smog witnessed in the NCR in November 2016.

The need for a parking system and implementation of mass transport system across the NCR were also discussed.

"A plan to take a 360-degree approach towards pollution control is being propagated. First on the list is to introduce zigzag technology at all the brick kilns of the district. Crop burning needs to be curbed, and we have proposed contructing more walkways," UPPCB regional officer BB Awasthi told TOI.

Noida Authority CEO Amit Mohan Prasad said, "We facilitated the event for all stakeholders to contain air pollution in the city. This is an awareness event."
