The Indian Express , Monday, July 04, 2016
Correspondent :
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to respond to a petition that has alleged loss of green cover in Mathura’s JawaharBagh, where recent clashes between encroachers and security personnel left 29 people, including two policemen, dead.

A bench led by Justice M S Nambiar issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Secretary at Horticulture Department, District Magistrate and others, while seeking their reply by July 27.

The order came while hearing a plea by NGO Tree Protection Team seeking constitution of a committee of experts for evaluation of ecological loss and damage caused at JawaharBagh.

The plea, filed through advocate Siddhartha Singh, has also sought stringent action against erring officials responsible for causing loss of the green cover and air pollution in JawaharBagh during the violence.
