Ghaziabad: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday formed a committee of experts, comprising representatives from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and UP Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), to study air pollution in and around Kaushambi. The move comes after members of Kaushambi Apartments Residents Welfare Association (Karwa) submitted a petition seeking measures from agencies and departments to check air pollution levels in the area.

"A bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar on Monday directed a committee of officials from CPCB, DPCC and UPPCB to carry out a study and conduct an analysis of the quality of ambient air in the area," said Vinay Kumar Mittal, president of Karwa, adding, "The order says the committee will submit a report in three weeks."

"The court also asked the committee to look into issues of encroachment, plying of illegal buses etc. that are aggravating air pollution in the city," Mittal said.
