A probe revealed thaMehboob had been buying the reptiles from narikurava tribal groups in CuddaloreVillupuram, Dindigul, Tirupur, Aranthangi, Dharapu ram and Pudukottai dis tricts. He sold the monitor li zards for their meat and blood -for its purportedly aphrodisical qualities -to restaurants and individuals for as much as `2,500kg.

The officials produced Mehboob before a Panrut court that sent him to Cudda lore Central Prison.
