Man held for selling tiger claw

Forest officials here arrested a man here on Sunday while he was trying to sell a tiger’s claw.

J. Nandhakumar (32), a resident of Palavanjipalayam in Tirupur, had placed an online advertisement to sell tiger claw.

Officials from the forest department laid a trap for him by luring him to Madurai and arrested him while he was trying to “sell” it to an informer. The officials could not ascertain the source of the claws.

District Forest Officer Nihar Ranjan said that he was booked under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. He confessed that he had three claws, of which two had been sold to persons in Bengaluru.
