Speaking on the occasion, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Special Task Force (STF), Uttar Pradesh, Arvind Chaturvedi said that poachers use code language to communicate with each other. They call tiger 'bada wala' (big one), leopard 'chhota wala'' (small one), tiger bones as 'sabzi', tiger skins as 'utran' and other wildlife products as 'dana paani'.

He said that poachers are active on Indo-Nepal border and effective combing of forest areas could help in preventing wildlife crimes. Chaturvedi urged all agencies to work with better coordination.

He also played audio tapes of conversation between the poachers arrested in Allahabad, Bijnaur, Pilibhit and Bahraich. The ASP STF also showed their photographs.

In their address, chief warden of Berdia Sanctuary in Nepal Ram Chandra Kandel and divisional forest officer (DFO) Berdia, Bhairav Prasad Ghimire, assured full cooperation in curbing poaching.

DFO Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary Ashish Tiwari also stressed on the need of better coordination to end this menace.

Officials from Berdia National Park in Nepal, Dudhwa National Park (DNP), Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, World wildlife fund (WWF) and of Shaashtra Seema Bal (SSB) attended the workshop and discussed the issue.
