Seminar on Climate Change

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 100 experts from the SAARC countries will attend the two- day international seminar on climate change and environmental restoration to be held here from Monday.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the seminar to be organised by Institute for Climate Change Studies, Institute of Management in Government and UNEP. With the tenth year of tsunami disaster this month, experts will confabulate on tsunami, early warning and emergency preparations.

Environment Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, IMG Director-general Tinku Biswal and Muralee Thummarukudy of UNERP will be present at the inauguration.

Experts from India, Sri Lanka and Maldives will talk on climate change. Kerala State Higher Education Council chairman T P Sreenivasan and former Finance Minister Thomas Isaac will attend.

Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash will talk on ‘’Ten years after tsunami’’. Another session related to disaster management will be attended by members of the disaster management authority from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
