Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Sherpa' at the G-20 Summit, Suresh Prabhu, on Sunday said India's concerns on issues like climate change and food security were discussed at the event.

"The G-20 has also addressed the issue related to climate change in a significant way. And I think that has been a very important development because (on) climate change we are very keen that it should be under the United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change. Because as you know, there have been efforts to derail that process, while climate change is necessary but at the same time some countries may not try to necessarily follow with the Framework Convention which was made under the United Nations aegis. So, we insisted on that," Prabhu told the media at a press conference here.

"And other important part has been the 'adaptation'. Because as you know, a country like India is facing enormous challenges in dealing with climate change, which is a reality as a result of past emissions. And, therefore, if the past emissions is a reality then adaptation is a necessity," he said.

Prabhu also referred to India getting a say in terms of its concerns on food security.

"Another very interesting part, as you know historically the Bali Action Plan which included a huge agenda on development, there has been a very significant portion which has been mentioned here which actually says that we welcome the breakthrough on the full and prompt implementation for the trade facilitation agreement and includes provision on food security," he said.

"This is now welcome by all the G-20 countries that food security is welcome. Most importantly, we commit to implement all elements of Bali package and swiftly define the WTO work programme on the remaining issues of the Doha Development Agenda to get negotiation back on track," he added.
