CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear on Tuesday the applications for anticipatory bail filed by the former Indian cricket captain, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and Shashi Singh, in the poaching case registered by the Jhajjar police.

Theapplications were filed on Monday. Sources said Mr. Pataudi pleaded that he was not involved in poaching and that he would join police investigations.

The police are continuing their efforts to arrest Mr. Pataudi and six other accused after the expiry on June 10 deadline for their surrender. Madan Singh, who was arrested, was granted bail by a Jhajjar court on Monday.

Mr. Pataudi and the seven others have been accused of hunting and killing a black buck, an endangered species, and two rabbits near a wildlife sanctuary in Jhajjar district.

Haryana Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala told mediapersons here that the police would soon arrest all the accused. He suggested that the former cricketer turn himself in to avoid embarrassment.
