Correspondent :
As many as 81 per cent of 320 ICT companies analysed by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project India), along with the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), have integrated climate change into core business strategy.

The report, which was released at IIM-B here on Thursday, also revealed that over 40 per cent of the companies have managed to reduce their absolute emissions.

The companies analysed, are located in over 35 countries and include the likes of Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, Google and Microsoft. The report ‘ICT Sector’s Role in Climate Change Mitigation: An analysis of climate change performance and preparedness of 320 global ICT companies’, looks at the major risks and opportunities presented by climate change for the sector; best practice examples from leading companies in the sector; and emerging opportunities for ICT companies.

The report also says that while energy efficiency activities are the most popularly deployed method of emission reduction, use of unsold products and purchased goods and services are the biggest contributors to ICT companies’ emissions.
