THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P Sreekantan Nair, who has been in the eye of a storm following allegations during his term as director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, has been moved to the Pollution Control Board (PCB).

Environment and Forests Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that Sreekantan Nair had completed his five-year deputation and gone back to his parent organisation, the PCB.

“When a decision in this regard was made, it was the time of elections.

“During that time any posting would need Election Commission’s sanction. Hence it was pending for further orders,” Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said. The Opposition has been on a continuous attack against some officials, including Sreekantan Nair, in the Assembly for the past couple of days.

Opposition MLAs V S Sunil Kumar and V Sivankutty on Wednesday demanded to review the environmental clearances issued for projects.

Opposition Leader Achuthanandan had alleged major corruption while granting environmental clearances to projects.
