No one complains about these ‘one-sided’ books

The Hindu , Monday, December 09, 2013
Correspondent :
A germ of an idea sprung in the brains of ten youngsters, who went around the city collecting one-sided paper to bind them into books, has turned into a full-fledged project with the team founding the IUOSB – IU One Sided Books.

The company has so far produced 1,400 notebooks of various sizes, which will be given to students from government schools. These one-sided pages which include advertisement pages, pamphlets and rough sheets have been collected from colleges, schools, institutions, banks and tutorials.

Sujit Lalwani, Founder and Director, Inspiration Unlimited, who introduced the project IUOSB,said that the Climate Change Conference at Jaipur inspired the group to spread the message of recycling through the project, this apart from their core objective of providing students with notebooks.

The company has also made its presence felt on social networking sites and the project has attracted a whopping 2,500 ‘likes’ on their Facebook page within a week of its launch. Mr. Lalwani points out that their idea was well-received in the first few weeks itself. The willingness of individuals to give away sheets of papers resulted in the collection of 52,000 papers during the first week itself, informs Mr. Lalwani.

The project has not only found support from people in the city but also from across the country and abroad as well.
