UK to share best energy conservation tips

The government of the United Kingdom (UK) has agreed in principle to share the best practices in Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation (EE&EC) initiatives with the State government to achieve the desired goals of energy savings of around 15,000 million units per year in the key sectors like industry, agriculture, domestic and government offices and street lighting.

The UK government also accepted to strengthen and assist the SECM in implementing energy efficiency programmes by providing technical support and involving various prominent energy efficient companies of the UK to facilitate the sharing of best energy efficiency practices, introduce latest technologies and enhance energy conservation movement.

Baroness Sandip Verma, junior minister for Energy and Climate Change, UK, assured chief secretary and chairperson of SECM, PK Mohanty, that they would depute high level delegation of experts and representatives of energy efficiency companies of UK to Andhra Pradesh to share the best practices, particularly a World Class Comprehensive Demand Side Management (CDSM) which was implemented in the UK two decades ago.

During a recent interaction with the Baroness, SECM CEO, A Chandra Sekhara Reddy, highlighted various initiatives of SECM that ensures energy efficiency and prevent wastage of energy by involving general public/stakeholders on a large scale and promote the use of solar power
