CHANDIGARH: Defeating the purpose of introducing LPG autos in Chandigarh, diesel autos from adjoining areas continue to drive into the city. Threatening to launch an agitation against these vehicles, the LPG Auto Operators Association says soft stand by the administration has defeated the purpose of introducing LPG autos and saving the environment.

The association has threatened to launch an agitation against the UT administration demanding strict action against the diesel auto operators moving freely in the city despite a ban been imposed on them. "We are following all rules and regulations, but the administration has failed to restrict entry of diesel autos in Chandigarh. We still believe that a strict action shall be imposed very soon," said Arjun of the LPG Auto Operatorsa, Association. "The LPG autos are eco friendly and cleaner and cheaper than diesel ones. They give a smooth ride without polluting nature, hence, their service shall be increased in the city," says Mahesh of Sector 20.

"The diesel autos add to noise as well as air pollution and degrade the environment. The administration should keep a check on these," says Vishal, a resident of Sector 23. Malkit Singh, a member of the LPG Auto Operatorsa" Association, said. These autos are best to travel in where as the diesel autos are not safe and are overloaded most of times. We are looking forward to the administration and hopefully our demands will soon be met.
