GULBARGA: Deputy Commissioner Anjum Parvez on Wednesday said there is a proposal for branding vehicles, which habitually violate the norms fixed for emission limits, by pasting a sticker. Presiding over the valedictory function of the month-long testing of vehicles for emission, he said the Road Safety Committee will take a decision on branding such vehicles.

He said air pollution is a major problem and has to be attended to immediately. Vehicles using adulterated petrol and diesel cause pollution and the authorities of Road Transport Authorities will come down heavily on owners of such vehicles.

Mr. Parvez handed over the keys of the emission testing vehicles donated by the State Pollution Control Board to the Road Transport Authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of the Road Transport Department Muniveeregowda, Additional Superintendent of Police Ravikumar Naik, RTO Shivraj Patil, and District Pollution Control Officer J.S. Vijay were present.

Mr. Parvez gave away awards to students who won prizes in different contests organised on the occasion.
