Kerala to host global meet on climate change from Friday

The International Non-Governmental Cooperation Organisation for Renewable Energy (Ingcore) and Energy Management Centre (EMC), Kerala, are jointly organising a two-day global seminar on ‘Climate change: Renewable energy for adaptation and Mitigation.'

The Finance Minister, Dr Thomas Isaac, will inaugurate the seminar on Friday, according to Prof V. K. Damodaran, General Convenor of the seminar and Director-General of Ingcore. The Minister for Forests, Mr Binoy Viswom, will chair the opening session.

Prof Damodaran told newspersons here that more than 20 international experts on climate change and renewable energy would be presenting papers at the seminar.

ADAPTATION ISSUE

The seminar would seek to explore as to how renewable energy can help with the adaptation and mitigation aspects of climate change impacts. The speakers will dwell on the community's role in adaptation and mitigation citing case studies, and from their own experiences from different parts of the world.

Among others who spoke on the occasion were Mr N. T. Nair, Chief Editor, Executive Knowledge Lines magazine; Mr K.M. Dharesan Unnithan, Director, EMC; Mr Ram Kamal and Mr M. P. Vikraman Nair, Members, Ingcore.
