World Environment Day observed in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, June 5: Along with rest of the world, World Environment Day is also celebrated in Sivasagar with programmes of tree plantation, cultural activities by school students, drawing and quiz competitions, lectures on topics related to environment protection. To mark the day, with a sole intention to sensitize the youth to environment and climate change issues and empower them to act as proactive change agents for sustainable development and a safe future, a workshop, under the aegis of Sibsagar Girls’ College, was organized at the college auditorium today where hundreds of students from various schools took part. Besides, 125 saplings were planted and 10 numbers of hoardings with slogans to make people aware on environmental issues were set up along the bank of the Jamuna. On the other hand, Marwari Yuva Manch, Sivasagar branch planted 100 trees on June 4 at the premises of Sai Mandir near Rajabari to observe the World Environment Day and as a mark for completing 10,000 days of Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Yuva Manch.
