Haryana forest dept. launches new scheme

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Forest Department has launched a scheme for the adoption of wild animals or birds in zoos and deer parks to protect them, Forest and Environment Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said on Saturday.

He said that he had recently launched the scheme by personally adopting a black buck at the mini zoo in Pipli in Kurukshetra district.

Jindal's gesture

Capt. Yadavfurther disclosed that Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal had also donated Rs. five lakh for animals or birds at the Pipli Mini Zoo.

Capt. Yadav said that several animals and birds had either become endangered or would become so thanks to the shrinkage and degradation of their natural habitat and poaching of wildlife.
