The Chief of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has stated that the organization requires learning from latest criticisms and modernizing its workings.

He said that regardless of making a mistake over Himalayan glacier melt in its milestone 2007 report, the board's essential conclusions stay sound.

Rajendra Pachauri was speaking at the opening conference of an UN-commissioned evaluation into the IPCC's work.

Dr. Pachauri confessed that his organization had not been prepared well and were also ill-resourced; in order to manage the latest denigration it has received.

Dr. Pachauri informed the board that it is essential for them to keep their vigil and listen to all that is necessary for keeping a check on environment.

Whilst the IPCC confesses to including a mistaken date by which Himalayan glaciers may disappear in its 2007 Fourth Assessment report, Dr. Pachauri stated that the board has not been effective in informing public that yes it made mistakes, however that does not alter the fact that the glaciers are melting in the present time.

After Dr. Pachauri's speech, the board heard presentation from senior UN figures that included, Janos Pasztor, Director of Mr. Ban's climate change support panel who also spoke reading making better efforts.
