‘India’s approach towards nature ignored by world’

Noted environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal reached Copenhagen, Denmark, to attend the United Nations Climate Change conference. Talking to The Pioneer before leaving, he said that the need of the hour was to tell the world about the approach of east especially of India towards nature which had wrongly been ignored in the name of non-scientific approach.

Quoting examples, he said that offering water on a peepal tree was being considered now as superstition but one should keep in mind that this ‘24-hour running factory of oxygen’ also need the required in-put and offering water on it should be taken as a religious approach to keep it alive.

He said that one could live better in natural environment instead of polluted surroundings- the creations of imbalanced development. Baba Seechewal said that the present picture of this region of the earth was a caution to the entire world that the human race would have to pay heavy price for polluting natural resources.

He said that it was the matter of great sorrow that in order to establish their supremacy in the name of scientific approach, scientists in general were unduly trying to reject the religious approach towards nature.

The noted environmentalist said that instead of blindly rejecting faith of the people, the scientists should try to understand the real approach the religions of the world which ultimately was to make the world better to live.

“The need of the hour is also to make the people well aware of the concept that with positive efforts to make the environment neat and clean, we can develop a heaven on this earth instead of finding it on any other unseen ignoring our basic duties towards nature,” he added.

One of the 13 prominent environment personalities of the world recognised recently but the world famous Time magazine for his efforts of reviving river Kali Bein, Baba Seechewal said, “We are in search of water on other planets, but neglecting what we have on earth and polluting water available with toxins.”

Baba Seechewal said, “This challenging issue of global warming can be handled by changing individual behavior and adopting simple life style.”
