The Deccan Herald , Friday, July 24, 2009
Correspondent : Washington, PTI:
US has said ''meaningful action'' from India and China is necessary to make any substantial progress on climate change.

''If we are going to make progress on climate change, we need meaningful action not only by the developing world and the United States, but by the developing world, including countries like China and India,'' Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, P J Crowley, told reporters at the daily State Department press conference.

Climate change would appear prominently when the US and Chinese officials meet next week for their first strategic and economic dialogue under the Obama Administration.

Some 150 top Chinese officials are landing in the US next week to participate in the two-day dialogue to be inaugurated by President Barack Obama.
