NEW DELHI: To sensitise children about the environment, Pearson Longman and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) have joined hands to launch green books for children.

A unique selling point of the green books is that they have been printed on recycled paper. The books are meant for 5-to-16 year olds and also supplement the environment education curriculum being followed in schools worldwide. To create interest among children towards the need to preserve Mother Earth from ecological destruction, the books have been beautifully illustrated and attractively designed.

The series of green books give out important and relevant information to the young minds. Some of the titles in the new range are “Green Genius Guide: What are Wind Power, Solar Power, Hydropower, and more….”, “How Come, How Go: That’s How Things Happen”, “Green Genius Guide: What are Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Avalanches, and more..…”, “Green Genius: 101 Questions and Answers -- The Quickest Way to Increase Your Green Quotient”, “Endangered Life on Land -- Struggling to Survive”, “Future Power Energy -- Wind Power: Powering the Future”, “Nature’s Fury: Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunamis” and “101 Facts: Renewable Energy”.

Change lives

Speaking about the green books, TERI Director-General R. K. Pachauri says: “It is in the hands of children to try and change their own lives towards greater protection of the environment and all our natural resources. This series of children’s books is aimed at providing them with knowledge on what needs to be done in all these areas.”

Govil of Pearson Education, India, says: “We are extremely conscious of our impact on the environment, and this partnership is a step towards creating awareness about climate change.”
