Seminar on climate change

JAMUGURIHAT, April 27 – A lively seminar on the topic, “Change of climate and its impact on living beings” was held recently at Dipatola ME School, Jamugurihat as part of the “World environment awareness campaign,” of Assam Science Society. The seminar organised by the Zoology department of THB College Jamugurihat was financed by Assam Science Society.

Participating as the resource person, Hemanga Hazarika, secretary Assam Science Society Biswanath Chariali branch, and the science teacher of Khorasimalu High School, Biswanath Chariali explained in details the importance of environment awareness, role of the people specially the students in controlling pollution and the impact of climatic change on the living beings. Sanjib Upadhyaya explained the purpose of the seminar while Jyotirmoy Bora, headmaster of the school welcomed the guests. Iranidutta Medhi senior lecturer department of Economics inaugurated the seminar and Golap Kalita, retired HoD English and a journalist released the leaflet entitled, “Let us extend our help to control climate change,” written by Sanjib Upadhyaya.

Earlier, in the morning, tree saplings were planted in THB College campus, started by Golap Kalita and a competition among the students of quiz and extempore speech were held. The winners of the competitions were awarded prizes in the seminar attended by all the students, teachers , a few lecturers and staff of THB College and a few leading citizens of the area, tree saplings were presented to the guests at the end of the seminar.
