Earth Day observation

GUWAHATI, April 18 – Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) Guwahati requests all eco-clubs, schools, NGOs of the state to celebrate Earth Day, which is annually observed on April 22.

The day is being celebrated globally with an aim of drawing the attention of the general public to the drastic changes that have been taking place in the environment. The primary objective towards observance of the Earth day is to emphasise the roles and responsibilities of the common people in maintaining the delicate balance of nature through a global effort involving individuals from all walks of life.

To mark this day all the eco-clubs, schools, NGOs can organise films or shows on environmental themes, take out rallies, organise exhibitions, fairs, or various competitions on their respective local environmental issues. This year it has been decided to focus the Earth Day observance on the prevalent issue of Climate Change. This was stated in a press release.
