AZARA, March 19 – Environment Observation & Management Association (EOMA) under the patronage of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, organised a day-long workshop on ‘Climate change’ on March 2 at Dharapur HS School as part of National Environment Awareness Mission 2008-09.
Dr Dilip Kr Deka, secretary EOMA, inaugurated the workshop by planting a ‘neem’ sapling. Chief engineer, GU, RK Sarma, Jatin Kalita, principal, Dharapur HS School and Dr Chandana Sarma attended the tree plantation programme.
On the occasion, a drawing competition among children of different local schools was also held. The winners of the competitions were given prizes.
A seminar on ‘climate change’ was also held at noon. The seminar conducted by Dharapur HS School principal Jatin Kalita was addressed by Dr S Kalita, HoD, Environment Science, GU and Dr GC Sarma of Botany Department, GU. Giving a brief account of the topic, Dr Kalita highlighted the causes and effect of climate change on the earth. Dr Sarma also spoke a few words on the subject.
