Seminar on global warming organised

THANE: With the issue of global warming affecting the planet, governments across the world have been trying their best to curb the issue. In an initiative to take the step further, the TMC, along with the British High Commission organised a seminar on the issue. The event took place on Tuesday, January 20 at a hall in Thane. On this platform, delegates from across the world came and discussed the role of local local governments and civic bodies in curbing the issue. The programme was graced by Suni Tatka, the state minister for energy

Speaking to this newspaper, Sandeep Malvi, the TMC PRO mentioned that the sole aim of the programme was to raise the issue of greenhouse gases and carbon emissions that has played a significent role in increasing the rate of air pollution. "Over 150 deligates the world, who are representatives of various local bodies, had gathered at this seminar to discuss the need to use narutral and renewable sources of energy," he said.

When addressing the crowd of deligates, civic commissioner Nandkumar Jantre spoke of the need of local civic bodies across the world coming together to curb the issue of global warming. Jantre also added that the issue of greenhouse gases and high levels of carbon dioxide was an issue that had to be dealt with the world over. He also gave examples of rainwater harvesting and solar panels

that were used by upcoming and some existing housing complexes under the TMC's jurisdiction.

The representative of the British High Commission also spoke on local governments the world over building a network to connect so as to exchange novel ideas in reducing pollution hte world over, as well as discuss new ideas in using renewable sources of energy.
