The level of total suspended particulate matter (TSPM) in the ambient air at a traffic intersection in Kilpauk was 297 microgram/cubic metre during the 24-hour period ending Thursday 6 a.m. The permissible limit for TSPM is 200 microgram/cubic metre.

According to data recorded by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board as part of the Chennai Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme, the level of respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM) in Kilpauk during the same period was 108 microgram/cubic metre. The permissible limit for RSPM is 100 microgram/cubic metre.

At a traffic intersection in T. Nagar, the TSPM was 360 microgram/cubic metre during the same period. The RSPM was 170 microgram/cubic metre, according to a release.
